Welcome to the Adventure blog!

Big news and a regular dose of magical inspiration for family days out at Stockeld Park!

Where Should You Take Kids for an Educational School Trip?

For many of us, our best memories from primary school are the field trips or the week-long residentials. Free from the constraints of a classroom, school trips allow students to learn in a more immersive environment.

With the new school year in full swing, it’s time to start planning your next educational visit now so you have time to organise the admin that comes with it.

First things first: where should you go? If you’re looking for somewhere nearby that offers adventure and education, you’re in the right place.

Your Next Educational Adventure Awaits

Stockeld Park offers adventure trips and educational days out, which are ideal for those in the Yorkshire area. Our education programme is a teacher-led initiative built around the primary National Curriculum, helping to develop a love of learning through adventure.

After a day of fun, we aim to improve your pupils’:

  • Communication & language skills
  • Listening & comprehension skills
  • Gross & fine motor development
  • Collaborative problem solving
  • Expressive & creative arts
  • Literacy & storytelling
  • Explorative & imaginative play
  • Creative writing

How We Make School Trips Fun

So, what does an educational day out look like at Stockeld Park? Discover what’s involved in our fun-fuelled agenda below.

Creative Writing in the Enchanted Forest

Your young explorers will venture through the Enchanted Forest, where they’ll be tasked to write stories using the magical world around them.

There are secret paths to take, talking trees to joke with, and a fairy village to secretly gaze upon. And if the weather is just right, let the class invade the Teepee Encampment or clamber in the Tangle Tree Climb!

Imaginative Play in the Playhive

Imagination is crucial in a child’s development – without it, life would be boring! The Playhive, which is our huge indoor adventure park, will put your student’s imagination into overdrive.

As you enter, you’ll explore four themed worlds of adventure. One minute, you’re flying a shuttle to outer space; the next, you’re sailing in the deep blue ocean. Our immersive space, air, sea and jungle zones will encourage your students to tell a remarkable tale that connects these worlds together.

Problem-Solving in the Magical Maze

Our Magical Maze will test your student’s mapping and orienteering skills. Each child will navigate over two miles of unexpected obstacles, wrong turns and mysterious riddles by the Maze Master. If anyone gets lost, there are maps stationed throughout the maze.

There’s something amazing at the maze’s centre – but we won’t tell until you and your class try it out themselves!

Engaging Educational Workshops

Along with all this interactive play, educational trips include an educational workshop, which allows you to dive deeper into a topic of your choice. Our workshops are available in various themes, so lessons become more hands-on and less tiresome.

Workshop themes include:

  • Legends of the sea
  • Pirates
  • Magic (Wizards, witches and mythical beasts)
  • Superheroes
  • Space and aliens
  • Crime Scene Investigation (CSI)
