Take a Tour of Our Magical Ancient Woodlands

Step into the Enchanted Forest at Stockeld Park, an ancient woodland where magic blooms in every season and every moment. 

The Enchanted Forest has acres of outdoor play which both young and old can enjoy. There’s so much to do, so where do you begin? In this blog, we’ll take you through the forest and uncover all the activities on offer. 

Play at Themed Outdoor Playgrounds

Kids can spend hours exploring, and here, they've got not one, but four outdoor playgrounds to discover, each with its own theme!

The Teepee Encampment whisks kids away to the Wild West, where they can become cowboys and American Indians for the day. Got a little climber on your hands? The Tangle Tree Climb is calling their name! It's a mini obstacle course that'll put their climbing skills to the test.

For thrill-seekers, there's the legendary Spider's Lair! This playground has a treehouse, rope bridges, zip wires, spiralling slides and a spider climbing structure. And for the littlest explorers, there's the sandy shore of Woodsands Cove, perfect for digging, building and having fun.  

Scattered throughout the forest, you'll also find smaller play areas with even more fun, like the Big Book of Books and the Teapot Slide. Everywhere you turn, there’s a slide or two!

Meet Our Cheeky Animated Characters

As an ancient woodland, we house many unique characters from different magical worlds. Maybe you’ll meet the roaring dragon or Egor the Ogre, who can’t help but belch! Russell, our talking tree, loves to greet new visitors, so if you’re in the mood for a chat, Russell’s all ears!

For a magical moment, summon the fairies who live secretly in The Fairy Village. All you need to do is play a musical instrument by the bridge to bring them to life! 

Visit Magical Houses 

When you pass the Teepee Encampment, you’ll see The Highrise Tower where Hoggs live. Walk up the steps and press the buttons to hear the audio play. You’ll also greet Rapunzel shortly after The Big Book of Books, who is locked away waiting to be saved. 

For imaginative play, go into The Witches’ Hat and cast spells around her cauldron or make up a feast in The Mushroom Kitchen, complete with animated cooking appliances.

Play Musical Instruments 

The Enchanted Forest is alive with music! From the chirping of robins and sparrows to the vibrant sounds of musical instruments, every corner has a unique melody to share. 

In the Musical Garden, you can create your own music with xylophones and drums, and in another part of the forest, you can conduct The Musical Tree by playing piano keys.

Take in Lakeside Views 

As you walk through the forest, head towards our lake, where you’ll see merry sailors ride our Buccaneer Boats in the Spring and Summer. When the winter months arrive, our lake hosts a winter lights show, which displays enchanting illuminations and a captivating soundscape.

Just by the lake view, you’ll cross a train crossing, which keeps everyone safe as the Flying Stocksman rides through.

Take Part in a Jewel Heist

Ready for a jewel heist adventure? This year-round game challenges you to work your way through the mirrored hall to reach a precious jewel! Carefully avoid and disarm the laser security system and become the legendary jewel thief of Stockeld Park! 

During the Christmas Adventure, this play area transforms into a dazzling wonderland. Thousands of glittering lights create a magical illumination attraction you can run through. 

Get Refreshments at Our Tuck Shops

With all the running about, you and your kids will be in good need of a drink! Gretel’s Cabin, which is located midway in the forest, offers hot and cold beverages, along with snacks to keep your energy up. 

The Gingerbread Cabin is open during Halloween and Christmas when more of us are seeking a cuppa in the cold! If you’re still peckish, head to the Playhive Pizzeria or Woodland Cafe for a tasty treat.
